Overview
The MediaTek Genio 720 offers unparalleled capabilities for embedded edge AI and GenAI applications, building on MediaTek’s strong AI technologies and rich IOT platform portfolio. Built on an advanced 6nm process technology the Genio 720 integrates an 8th generation MediaTek NPU, that delivers up to 10 TOPS of acceleration for handling complex AI tasks like object detection, image classification, and speech recognition as well as on-device support for GenAI applications & leading LLMs (Large Language Models). This enables real-time, low-latency AI inference on the edge, reducing reliance on cloud-based processing.
The Genio 720 also includes an octa-core processor with 2x Arm Cortex-A78 cores running at up to 2.6 GHz and 6x Arm Cortex-A55, and an Arm Mali G57 MC2 GPU. It supports up to Ultrawide 5K60 single-display, dual 2.5K60 displays, and dual-camera ISPs making it a strong fit for smart retail, smart home, transportation/smart cities, healthcare, entertainment, education, industrial and enterprise applications.
Integrated Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 support, as well as expansion options for Wi-Fi 7, 5G and RedCap connectivity provide a platform for rich connected applications.
The Genio 720 supports an OSM (Open Standard Module) reference design and is pin-to-pin and software compatible with the mainstream Genio 520, allowing for a scalable platform. With support for Android, IoT Yocto, and Ubuntu, it provides a stable foundation for long-lifecycle IoT deployments.
The development resources for Genio 720, including EVK, documentation, tools, and design resources, are scheduled to be available by the end of June.
