Overview
The MediaTek Genio 520 is engineered for embedded applications that require reliable, low-power implementation of edge AI and GenAI applications. Built on an advanced 6nm process technology, the Genio 520 integrates an 8th generation MediaTek NPU, that delivers up to 10 TOPS of acceleration for handling complex AI tasks like object detection, image classification, and speech recognition as well as on-device support for GenAI applications & leading LLMs (Large Language Models). This enables real-time, low-latency AI inference on the edge, reducing reliance on cloud-based processing.
The Genio 520 also includes an octa-core processor with 2x Arm Cortex-A78 cores and 6x Arm Cortex-A55, and an Arm Mali G57 MC2 GPU. It supports up to dual displays, or a single display up to Ultrawide 5K60 and is offered in both commercial and industrial temperature ranges making it a strong fit for smart retail, smart home, transportation/smart cities, healthcare, entertainment, education, industrial and enterprise applications.
Integrated Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 support, as well as expansion options for Wi-Fi 7, 5G and RedCap connectivity provide a platform for rich connected applications.
The Genio 520 supports an OSM (Open Standard Module) reference design and is pin-to-pin and software compatible with the higher-performance Genio 720, allowing for seamless migration where additional computing is required. With support for Android, IoT Yocto, and Ubuntu, it provides a stable foundation for long-lifecycle IoT deployments.
